What does “GLOBALBERO” actually mean?
GLOBALBERO – the name brings us together GLOBAL and ALBERO, the Italian word for “tree.” Our favorite trees symbolize what we love and what brings us together. Because what we love, we protect.
How did the idea turn into a project?
Some ideas need the right moment—and the right person to set them in motion. GLOBALBERO was born out of a genuine encounter: out of inspiration, conviction, and the deep belief that a love of nature brings people together. What began as a conversation in a wine cellar in Italy is now an international art project that invites people around the world to celebrate their favorite tree.
The Spark
During the lockdown, Marianne Schmid launched the interactive art project #iorestoacasa—demonstrating how art can bring people together without pointing fingers, but simply through love.
The Encounter
Organic winemaker Renate Schütz visits Marianne's exhibition in Agliano Terme, Italy. Her desire to create a similar project to protect nature strikes a chord with Marianne.
The idea takes shape
After exploring various options, the concept has taken shape: people from all over the world share creative posts about their favorite tree—on a shared platform, visible to everyone.
The team is growing
A Zoom call brings Berlin-based web designer Bianca Bürger on board. What begins as a conversation turns into a volunteer collaboration—and becomes one of the project’s cornerstones.
Under a lucky star
Business astrologer Franziska Engel determines the ideal launch date during a LiveCall—based on the most favorable astrological alignments.
Go live!
At 5:45 a.m., globalbero.ch goes live. The world map begins to fill with trees and stories.
What is the message and the goal?
The message of this project is to remind people of their love for trees.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of nature, encourage people to create a tribute to their favorite tree, and foster connections among participants around the world.
This initiative has the power to change our perspective. It allows us to see something ordinary with fresh eyes, giving it new meaning and significance. Symbolically, the tree represents nature. It appears to be independent. Yet recent research shows that trees are capable of communicating with one another. Perhaps they also communicate with us, if we listen closely?
